New home, close to home, for Bailey’s first ever campervan model

07th May 2024 | Bailey of Bristol
Bailey of Bristol’s first ever campervan has found a new home, close to home, after it was purchased recently by the company’s resident photographer Alan Bond and his partner Linda Hare.

Alan is Bailey’s resident photographer and videographer and he has been taking images and shooting videos of the company’s caravans, motorhomes and campervans since 2008 – his first shoot being with the Pageant Series 7.

Alan's first photoshoot was with the Pageant Series 7 in 2008

Their new purchase is a Bailey Endeavour B62 model, which is a two-berth layout featuring a fully-equipped central kitchen opposite a cleverly designed washroom – the floor print of which, thanks to a space saving revolving door, can be reduced when it is not in use. Moving further back in the vehicle there is a large customisable rear lounge, offering the choice of parallel seat or u-shaped configurations, which converts into either twin singles or a double bed at night.

As the first Bailey campervan off the production line this vehicle has really been put through its paces to ensure that it was up to the mark in terms of performance. In addition to the normal industry tests to confirm compliance with both British and European safety standards this model was also one of the vehicles which took part in the Bailey Sahara Challenge.

This involved travelling 2,735 miles over a 19-day period from the ‘World’s End’ in southwest Portugal through Spain and across the Strait of Gibraltar into Morocco. Once in Africa, the team then moved further south over the Atlas Mountains to the northern edge of the Sahara Desert before returning home. Some of the iconic sites and landmarks visited along the way included the cities of Rabat, Marrakesh or Casablanca, the ancient Fez Medina, the UNESCO heritage site of Aït Benhaddou or the rugged scenery of the Dades Gorge.

During this trip fellow team member, Peter Vaughan of MMM Magazine, gave his impressions of this model and its performance in these extreme conditions in a full length video review.

In order to highlight the four-season capabilities of Bailey leisure vehicles this same vehicle then participated in a cold weather challenge earlier this year, which took it on an over 2,000 mile journey from the company’s Bristol-Based factory through France, Luxembourg, Germany and Austria to the Dolomite Mountains in Italy. There the Team enjoyed a few days in spectacular snow-covered scenery in some of the coldest temperatures in Europe with figures getting as low as -20°C at night.

As part of the Bailey Team participating in both these challenges Alan completed many of these miles behind the wheel of his new campervan, thus providing it with the ultimate pre-purchase road test!

Alan and Linda plan to use their new campervan on a series of short breaks throughout the UK during the Summer and then further afield into Europe later in the year. Alan will also be using his Endeavour as a work vehicle, so it will be making regular appearances on future Bailey product photo shoots.

Bailey of Bristol Marketing Director Simon Howard said: “As our very first campervan, Alan and Linda’s new purchase holds a very special place in our hearts . We are delighted therefore that this, as yet unnamed, Endeavour model is going to such a good home and we wish them both many years of happy travels in this iconic Bailey leisure vehicle.
