Simon Wheway's Caravanning Checklist

23rd September 2022 | Simon Wheway
Simon Wheway is the proud owner of a 2022 Unicorn Cabrera. Having owned a motorhome since 2018, Simon decided to swap coachbuild for caravan as a result of he and his family wanting the convenience of a car after pitching up on site. Having felt that a motorhome restricted travelling to nearby beaches, restaurants, villages etc., a car when caravanning allows all these spots to be far more easily accessible.

Collecting their Unicorn Cabrera back in January 2022 from Cosford caravans in the West Midlands, it’s safe to say they haven’t looked back since. The Wheway’s chose Bailey having been very pleased with their previous Bailey motorhome. In addition to this, they generally prefered the Light Oak furniture finish and overall style of Bailey.

“We started by looking at the brochure and website. Using the 3D virtual showrooms, we decided on a Cabrera as we hadn’t had a fixed bed in the motorhome, and we liked the idea of not having to make the bed up every night. Also, as we have friends stay with us on occasions, the mid toilet was a big plus as it avoids them pushing past our bed. We love the cosiness of the caravan, yet, with plenty of space, it’s a home from home. We have all our stuff and TVs in the lounge and bedroom. another plus is that we’re able to afford to hook up and go when we want to go where we want. Obviously, site fees are far more cost-effective than renting a cottage!”

Simon enjoys nothing more than travelling across the UK in their Unicorn Cabrera. Here’s a look at the Wheway’s loving caravanning life during their trips near St. Ives in Cornwall and Craster in Northumberland.

Simon Wheway's Caravanning Checklist

Being such a keen caravanner, Simon has kindly provided a list of his useful Caravan Checklist and has asked that we share it with all new and experienced caravanners. Please keep in mind that Simon’s checklist is specifically relevant to his Unicorn Cabrera, however, can be easily changed to suit the caravan you own.
