Holidays for all the family with a caravan or motorhome
Yet the sheer amount of places you holiday using caravans and motorhomes can leave families spoilt for choice over where they want to go.
That’s why we’ve put together the following blog post. From quiet family getaways to those filled with entertainment, it’ll give holiday type ideas, site suggestions and provide tips to make the best use of your time away as you plan your next holiday.
Certified Sites and Locations
If yours is a family that likes to get off the beaten track and find hidden gems of small campsites, then these sites might be the ones for you.
Certified Sites (CS) are run by the Camping and Caravanning Club, and Certified Locations (CL) are run by the Caravan and Motorhome Club (both the Clubs require you to be a member to book). These are privately run sites that offer space for up to 5 caravans and motorhomes. Facilities range from back-to-basics off-grid camping up to sites that include shower blocks, electric hookups and even WIFI.
Whatever you choose, any one of our Bailey caravans or motorhomes is ideal for staying on a CS or CL site as they all come with all the amenities and comforts you need to have a great holiday.
Many people choose CS or CL sites because they’re much quieter than larger sites and are often found in areas of outstanding natural beauty. CS or CL sites give holidaymakers the chance to stay in quirky surroundings, such as working farms or on the grounds of a churchyard. When you holiday on a CS or CL site, the campsite itself is as much of a draw as the area you’ve gone to see.
Entertainment Sites
There are many sites around the UK that pride themselves on being family-friendly and offering something for everyone. Entertainment sites usually feature a mixture of family fun evening entertainment, swimming pools, hot tubs, nannying facilities and daycare centres, making them ideal for children and parents alike.
One of the best campsites in Devon for entertainment is Woodlands holiday park. Situated south of Dartmoor National Park and famous for its “stay and play” mantra. Woodlands of South Devon is a caravan park that offers a mix of all the amenities above with the added attraction of a full theme park for all site guests.
If entertainment is what you seek in a holiday, then Bailey’s range of caravans and motorhomes are ideal for your family. All of our ranges come with USB ports in the lounge areas to charge all your devices, and all come with antennas to ensure an excellent TV signal no matter where you end up.
Holidays with dogs
The joy of owning a caravan or motorhome when you have a dog is that you can easily take them away with you. While you still have to check whether the site you want to stay on does allow dogs, even if it doesn’t, you’ll likely be able to find an alternative just up the road.
Dog-friendly sites will always have dog walk areas, which are usually a fenced-off green space perfect for allowing them off the lead. Some may also have special dog washing and grooming facilities. You should be aware of the site’s etiquette surrounding your dog, as many will have areas where they cannot go.
One of the best dog-friendly campsites in Wales is Tretio caravan & camping park. Set in the rolling hills of Pembrokeshire, the site is packed with facilities such as free showers, free WIFI, a bouldering wall and even a free 9-hole golf course. It’s ideal for your entire family as well as your four-legged friends.
Touring holidays
One of the great things about caravan and motorhome holidays is that you bring your accommodation with you, so you can constantly travel around. This is a great way to see a lot of the UK all in one holiday and it’s also easy to change your plans on the fly if you want or need to. Another benefit of touring in a caravan or motorhome is that you are completely self contained and self sufficient. With your own kitchen, sleeping accommodation and washroom, there is no need to share facilities with anyone else if you choose not to.
Scotland’s North Coast 500 has become a go-to touring holiday destination in the UK for those seeking an adventure. Winding past gothic castles, through mountains and nature reserves like Loch Ness and Loch Lomond, it offers travellers 500 miles of epic scenery. Not only that, but the route features some of the best caravan and motorhome campsites Scotland has to offer.
Due to their Alu-Tech construction, all of Bailey’s caravans and motorhomes are designed to cope with this kind of adventure. Alu-Tech is a new way of constructing vehicles that sees their aluminium frames clamped together for better protection against the elements. The technology has been tested in the Sahara Desert and even the Arctic Circle, so they’ll be more than capable of surviving anywhere you want to take them.
When you have a caravan or motorhome, you gain the ability to have any kind of holiday you could dream of. One year your family might prefer a walking holiday and the next a thrill-seeking theme park adventure. A life with a Bailey gives you years of holidays without limits.
