Five great features of a Bailey 5 berth touring caravan

At Bailey of Bristol we make caravans in many layouts and sizes. From our smallest two-berth Discovery to our largest 6 berth Pegasus Grande SE, we’re a caravan manufacturer that offers enough choices to make sure everyone can find their perfect home away from home.

Our approach to the 5 berth touring caravan is no exception, and these models are perfect for families, those who want to take an extra friend for the children, or couples who want to invite some friends along for the holiday.

We have two 5 berth touring caravans in our current ranges for the 2022 season – the Phoenix+ 650 and the Pegasus Grande SE Ancona. Both of these models are single axle caravans, but you have the choice of a an 8ft wide caravan in the Pegasus Grande SE Ancona, or a more standard 7ft 3in with the Phoenix+ 650.

Here are five great features of these 5 berth touring caravans

1. They’re made with Alu-Tech construction

All current Bailey caravans and motorhomes are made with Alu-Tech construction. Alu-Tech is Bailey’s own unique approach to bodyshell construction, offered by no other caravan manufacturer, which makes the shell more robust and durable than anything else.

Alu-Tech uses a unique interlocking aluminium framework to clamp the body panels together. Along with a significant reduction in external joints and fixing points, timber-free components in the upper bodyshell panels and thicker, better-insulated panels cloaked in GRP (Glass Reinforced Plastic), Alu-Tech offers genuine four-season performance to keep you comfortable and secure all year round.

You can find out more about our Alu-Tech construction system here

2. Flexible layouts across two ranges

When you are considering a 5 berth caravan from Bailey of Bristol, you have two layouts and two ranges to choose from. The Phoenix+ 650 has a front lounge with fixed bunks and a dinette to the rear, and the Pegasus Grande SE Ancona has a front lounge as well as a rear lounge that can be made up into a double bed with an optional single bunk above it.

Both of these layouts mean that your caravan can be divided into two zones, which is handy if you want to have a designated children’s area and somewhere for the adults. In addition, the Pegasus Grande SE Ancona is 8ft wide, meaning you have up to 25% extra space when compared to a standard width caravan.

Both layouts come with the same ‘Light Oak’ furniture finish and ‘Nordic Stone’ worktop finish. The Phoenix+ 650 has the ‘Chesham’ soft furnishings, while the Pegasus Grande SE Ancona comes with the standard ‘Goldhawk’ soft furnishings and the ‘Barbican’ soft furnishings available as a cost option.

3. Choice of a standard width caravan and an 8ft wide caravan

Our two 5 berth caravans give our customers a choice of a standard width caravan with the Phoenix+ 650, or you can go wider and choose an 8ft wide caravan with the Pegasus Grande SE Ancona. It’s all down to personal preference and your own circumstances as to which one you prefer, but it’s worth noting the difference in the MTPLM** between the two vans. The Phoenix+ 650 comes in at 1409kg with a 165kg payload and can have a weight plate upgrade taking it to an MTLPM of 1500kg and a payload of 91kg. The Pegasus Grande SE Ancona has an MTPLM of 1600kg and a payload of 165kg. There is no weight plate upgrade available for the Ancona.

4. Both models have a fully fitted kitchen

In both the Phoenix+ 650 and the Pegasus Grande SE Ancona, there is a fully fitted kitchen with a Dometic refrigerator and freezer, a Thetford oven, grill and hob, and a Dometic microwave with non-moving ceramic hotplate*.

Each also feature the ‘Nordic Stone’ worktop laminate and a dropdown hob cover. Both the kitchens in these caravans benefit from having plenty of workspace (especially when the hob cover is put down) and both have a dining area close by – the side dinette in the Phoenix+ 650 and the rear lounge with multi-directional removable table in the Pegasus Grande SE Ancona.

5. Choose either an end or central washroom

In the Phoenix+ 650, there is a large rear washroom that runs across the back of the van. This provides a great space for washing and getting changed – ideal if you have several children in your family. The Pegasus Grande SE Ancona has a central washroom on the offside of the van. This is ideal if you have two families, or two adults and a group of children sharing the caravan as it is easy to access from the front or back lounge for both groups. Both the washrooms come with the ‘Nordic Stone’ washroom worktop laminate, a white gloss shower cubicle with bi-fold partition door and integral lighting, a bathroom storage cupboard and Thetford toilet*.

Whether you choose a Phoenix+ 650 or a Pegasus Grande SE Ancona for your 5 berth caravan, both offer great features that will make holidays away with friends and family feel like you’re taking your home from home. Comfort, convenience and adventure are built into all our caravan models and these 5 berth options are no exception.

*Please refer to the product specifications of both caravans for the exact specification of kitchen and washroom equipment relating to these models

**MTPLM is the Maximum Permissible Laden Mass and is the maximum weight a vehicle can be inclusive of the user payload (the items that you put into your caravan when you go on holiday like clothing, kitchen equipment and toiletries)
