How to use your Ford campervan

If you’ve recently purchased a Ford-based Bailey campervan, this guide covers some key features to get you started. A complete list can be found in the supplied Ford handbook, but here's what you need to know inside, outside, or under the bonnet.

The outside of the cab

The key fob can be used to lock and unlock the cab and habitation doors, either by pressing the relevant button or inserting the key into the lock. The same key also fits the ignition and the bonnet release catch.

To fill with diesel or Adblue:

  • Open the nearside (passenger side) door as a tab behind the door frame secures the filler cap. With the door and filler flap open, the diesel nozzle fits directly in the filler point.
  • With the door and diesel filler flap open, another flap below the diesel filler point can be opened. Turn the Adblue cap anticlockwise to remove it.

Checking the levels

  • The bonnet release is located outside on the front grille, just above the Ford badge. It’s not inside the cab, under the dash like many other models. Insert the key and turn anticlockwise to release the bonnet. Turn the key clockwise to release the bonnet catch.
  • Oil level. Standing at the front, looking at the engine bay, the dipstick is to the left and is a bright yellow. Remove, wipe, and re-dip in the traditional manner. The oil filler point is to the left of the dipstick.
  • The windscreen washer bottle is located in the far-left corner of the engine bay. The blue cap is marked with a windscreen wiper symbol and is lifted from the bottle before filling with screen wash.

Seating

In the cab, the seats have two modes—lounge mode and driving mode. Both seats are fully adjustable and feature twin armrests. They can be moved forward or backward using the bar under the front of the seat, and the backrest angle can be altered using the knurled wheel at the base. To use the seats in lounge mode, pull the bar at the side of the base and rotate the seat unit. Please remember that both seats must be returned and locked in the forward-facing position before driving.

Blinds and Skylight

All three cab windows are fitted with opaque night blinds for privacy. These can be released from the frame by pinching the catch with your fingers before gently pulling the blinds into the night position. They can be re-opened in the same way.

Above the front seats is a skylight that provides additional light for the campervan cab. When stationary, the catches can be released, and the skylight can be pushed open. It can be locked open by tightening the plastic nuts on the window hinge bars. Please ensure that the skylight is firmly closed before driving. The skylight also has a flyscreen and night blind.

Side and Rear Doors

The Endeavour has a sliding side door and twin rear doors to the rear. These doors also lock and unlock by pressing the key.

There’s an electrically operated step under the sliding side door. Once the door is opened, it can be deployed by pressing the button on the kitchen unit. The step will go back in when the engine is started, but always check that the step is put away before travelling.
