Just a mile from Newquay is the perfect place to stay

09th June 2017 | Bailey of Bristol
As they arrived at Trencreek Holiday Park in Newquay, it was clear it was the right location for an escape to Cornwall for Laydon and his girlfriend Claire, as they took a Bailey of Bristol Pursuit 550-4 to sandy Fistral Bay.

Arriving on the Thursday morning at the campsite, Laydon, who works in Dispatch at Bailey of Bristol, unhitched and immediately knew they had made the right choice with Trencreek. “From the moment we arrived everyone on the campsite was extremely helpful”, said Laydon. “Just a mile from Newquay it was the perfect place to stay and an ideal base for a few days away.”

After getting the feet down and pitching the Prima Deluxe Air Awning 390 from Prima Leisure, they made the 25 minute walk to scout out some places to eat and drink over the weekend, “we did a little bit of window shopping before having a couple of drinks in the afternoon at the Griffin Inn and Central Inn. We then headed back to Trencreek for a BBQ with the burgers, sausages and pork belly we’d got in Newquay”, said Laydon.

Friday morning saw the couple take in what Laydon described as the beautifully picturesque Japanese Garden before taking a walk along Fistral Beach on the north coast of Cornwall. “After we spent a tranquil morning walking through the Zen garden in the village of St. Magwan, we went down to Fistral Beach to have some lunch, before we spent the evening playing chess and cards in the caravan.”

The following day, Laydon and Claire decided that they would make a visit to the Screech Owl Sanctuary in Saint Columb before visiting Blue Reef Aquarium on Towan Promenade. “Both the owl sanctuary and the aquarium were amazing, really really great fun. Getting up close to the sharks and turtles and getting involved with the feeding sessions were highlights of the weekend away, as was seeing all the owls that are cared for at the sanctuary.”

Laydon went on to add “after such a great day we headed back to St Mawgan and The Smugglers Inn for an early evening meal, which was fantastic. As we were leaving on Sunday, we wanted to spend some time at the campsite, so we headed back to Trencreek.”

Back at the campsite, they went to the on-site pub, The Trencreek Tavern, before spending some time in the games centre, playing pool and games machines. The last evening was rounded off by heading back to the Pursuit to watch the sun go down in the awning before relaxing and watching a movie.

“We left early on Sunday morning, so packed up pretty quickly”, said Laydon. “We really enjoyed staying in the caravan at Trencreek and were so lucky to have chosen such a great campsite in such a perfect location. Great job all round.”
