Bristanbul campsites review – part 4

This was another city campsite that suited our needs perfectly with great transport options into the stunning city centre.

It is quite small and cosy (with only about 30 pitches) and was the busiest of our trip, which proves it is popular even out of the main season. It has a mini-market for essentials, public transport tickets available from reception, and there’s also a bar and restaurant.

Most people will be here to see this stunning city, so it’s great that there are easy bus routes close to the site, and the campsite offers a minibus service to the train station.

Although convenient for the city, its location has a village feel with a park close by. It has a swimming pool for the summer and it’s smart, modern facilities impressed us, especially the hot showers. ACSI listed.

Our last night of the trip was spent on the Stena Line ferry crossing the sea from the port of the Hook of Holland (near Rotterdam) in the Netherlands to Harwich in the UK.

As we were crossing on a Saturday evening, the multiple-laned motorway around Rotterdam was empty, which was much better than our experience on the Arctic Adventure when we were stuck in Friday night traffic mayhem!

This ferry service is a very relaxing way to end (or start) a trip. We would, especially recommend the overnight sailing as it is very relaxing and gets you a good early start on whichever side of the channel you are crossing to. We had a quick bite to eat and a drink before retiring to our cabins for the night. We all slept soundly and when we woke up, we were already berthed in Harwich.

We treated ourselves to a cooked breakfast and were off the ferry shortly after 6.30am, allowing us to breeze round the M25 and down the M4 to Bristol while they were still pleasantly quiet.
